About the Speaker
Wang Jie, artist, born in 1978, successively attended Oil Painting Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in art. From 2008 to 2013, he taught at Material Performance Studio of Oil Painting Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2003, he participated in the creation of the famous youth art group ‘N12’. In 2009, he won the gold medal of the ‘Eland’ Art Prize of Central Academy of Fine Arts.

About the Exhibition & Lecture
SCA will hold Wang Jie's personal exhibition 'In the Name of Arts' from May 25th, 2018 to June 15th, 2018 as the first personal exhibition in ShanghaiTech this year. Wang Jie regards the whole exhibition as a piece of work, presenting a comprehensive presentation of the context of his past creative career and the ongoing exploration. On the reception of the exhibition, we can not only talk with the artist, listen to the stories behind the works, but also share creative ideas from the artist, as well as the core concepts of the exhibition.
The lecture 'Fission & Generation: Aspects to Contemporary Arts' will be based on the analysis and discussion of several artists' cases and works, comb the development of contemporary arts, explore the relationship between the times and the art in the context of the history of art, and develop the concepts, forms, mechanism and value systems of contemporary arts.
