Event Review | When AI Meets Art

May 24, 2018, Gene Kogan, an artist and creative programmer from New York University, introduced the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in art creation to the students and showcased their creative projects in music information retrieval, human body language and other achievements in this workshop. Gene explained the concepts of training sets, learning algorithms, and neural networks in Machine Learning, and taught the students how to manage creative programming and code implementation.

At 6 o'clock in the evening, the lecture When AI Meets Art was held in the lecture hall. The speaker, Gene Kogan, presented topics such as the rise of Artificial Intelligence, new applications in Machine Learning in various fields. Then he introduced some of the cases that the team created together: Music Instrument (digital), Body Language, The Book From Sky. Through these vivid examples, Gene showed the students how to combine Artificial Intelligence and art. After the case studies, Gene theoretically explained the realization principle of Machine Learning and neural network. With Gene’s presentation, everyone had an overview of the wonders of Machine Learning and the charm of art.

In the Q&A session, our students asked about Gene’s case The Book from Sky and parameter setting in Machine Learning. At the end of the lecture, Gene and his team introduced the “Future Black Sword” art exhibition, which they participated.
