Daniel Koo, PI

Daniel (Gu Minde) is a professor at the School of Creativity and Art and the LEAD lab director. For the past 40 years, he has dedicated his experience in the area of product design. His research interests are in employing technology to identify users' emotional states during the product engagement and foresee the most suitable response autonomously.

Shimon Shmueli

Shimon is a teaching professor at the School of Creativity and Art and co-director of the lab. His research interests stem from an interdisciplinary academic and professional background in engineering, strategic marketing, and product design. His research focus is in the area of music and sound, social and collaborative robotics, and users as designers in mass customization.

Jidong Yang

An innovation practitioner, a director of Shanghai Industrial Design Association and Shanghai cultural and Creative Industry Promotion Association. Graduated from Tsinghua University and Jiangnan University, majoring in industrial design. He has more than 20 years of experience in design innovation education and design management. He is deeply engaged in the innovation and R & D of intelligent technology products and fashion consumer goods. Abundant successful practices and unique insights are accumulated in many world top 500 enterprises (Dow, Intel, Philips, Broadcom chips, etc.) and various fields including lifestyle research and brand strategy, marketing and product definition, user experience and interactive design, new material development and application. Many design awards at home and abroad are won, such as IF, REDDOT, Gooddesign, IDEA, and so on.




Bo Pan

Pan Bo, an engineer in the LEAD lab, graduated from the automotive design department (now intelligent mobility Department) of the Royal College of art. Since then, he has worked in several automobile companies and he was responsible for vehicle exterior design. While working, he loved teaching and founded SF studio. During teaching and design process in the studio, he led students to win IF design award, Red-dot design award and other well-known design awards for many times; His works cover many fields, such as automobile design, industrial design, interactive experience design, service design, visual communication and so on.


Junjun Shi

Junjun Shi, an engineer in the LEAD lab, graduated from ArtCenter College of Design and Donghua University in Product Design Major. She is one of the founders of YinengFM, used to work at Xiaomi eco system company - Runmi Technology, interned at BMW Designworks Shanghai and Cory Grosser Design+Strategy Studio. Her works won iF Design Award, SPARK Design Awards, CORE77 Design Awards. Her research focuses: Branding, Product Design, Ethnographic Research, User Experience, CMF, Model Making and Craftsmanship.
