Jidong Yang

Jidong Yang serves as the Assistant Dean of ShanghaiTech University’s School of Creativity and Art. He is an innovation practitioner, a council member of the Shanghai Industrial Design Association, and a council member of the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industry Promotion Association. A graduate of Tsinghua University and Jiangnan University with a degree in Industrial Design, Yang brings over two decades of experience in design innovation education and design management. He specializes in the innovative development of intelligent technology products and fashion consumer goods, accumulating extensive practical experience and unique insights in areas such as lifestyle and brand strategy, market and product definition, user experience and interaction design, and new material R&D innovation.

Yang proposed the collaborative innovation concept of “using design to activate technological competitiveness.” He has provided innovative design services to Fortune 500 companies, including Dow Chemical, Intel, Philips, Broadcom, and Xiaomi. His work has earned numerous domestic and international design accolades, including the German iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, Japan Good Design Award, and the American IDEA Award. His designs have been collected by multiple institutions, and he was selected for the Key Talent Pool for Entrepreneurship and Creativity of the Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Industry Department. In 2015, he received a nomination for China’s Top Ten Outstanding Design Youth under the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Guanghua Longteng Award, and in 2021, he was honored with the Third Prize of the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Award.
